We are seeking another experienced practitioner to join our specialist Business Affairs team. The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with an excellent academic record and a proven track record of drafting and negotiating TV contracts at every stage of the development, production, finance and distribution process.
The job will include advising clients on the commercial and technical implications of production related deals and drafting and negotiating contracts between the buyers and sellers of rights and services. Your job would be to ensure that the process is handled in a professional manner to the satisfaction of Industry Media’s clients.
We are particularly looking at candidates who have benefited from a good legal training followed by in-house TV business affairs experience. Within this dynamic and expanding team, attitude and ability are critical: you should have excellent communication and organisational skills; an adaptable, positive approach to a varied workload; the ability to prioritise and multi task when required; and the ability to show initiative and to work with minimal supervision.
Essential Qualities
- Excellent academic record and legal training
- Minimum of 5 years transactional experience in the television industry
- Experience of working in house in the business affairs department of an established production company
- Excellent references
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills
- Advanced time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and manage time, with exceptional organisational skills and the ability to handle a constant stream of high-priority projects for varied clients
- High level of technical and analytical skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and perform under minimal supervision
- Strong initiative to take on tasks and to set own priorities and deadlines
- Ability to excel under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
- Established relationships within the television industry are a plus
